For us, Muspelheim is not just a cool myth name.
It is the side of our universe where passion spills over, where fan culture, noise and devotion leave real marks on objects.
The Myth Behind the Name
In Norse mythology, Muspelheim stands opposite Niflheim, fire against ice, heat against mist.
That tension between cold and flame sits at the heart of our little cosmos.
Niflheim is the dark, steady base.
Muspelheim is the flare up, the roar from the stands, the scream in the front row.
Where Niflheim is mist and silence, Muspelheim is movement, heat and bodies in motion.

Muspelheim in Norse Mythology
In the myths, Muspelheim is the primordial realm of fire, heat and destruction, one of the oldest worlds, existing before the gods, humans or any ordered cosmos.
Creation begins in the void of Ginnungagap, where the freezing waters and ice of Niflheim meet the burning heat and sparks from Muspelheim. From this clash of opposites, the first living beings and the world itself begin to form.
Muspelheim is home to fire giants and blazing forces of chaos, ruled by the giant Surtr. At the end of the mythic cycle, during Ragnarök, Surtr and the hosts of Muspelheim march against the gods, setting the world ablaze and bringing the old order to an end.
Muspelheim represents raw energy, destruction, transformation, the kind of fire that both creates and consumes. That mythic image is what we tap into with Muspelheim inside Niflheim Records.
