Why Vampyros Lesbos belongs here
No, Vampyros Lesbos isn’t metal. But it still feels like something that absolutely belongs on Echoes from Tuonela.
Because sometimes it’s not about distortion and blast beats, but about atmosphere. About darkness. About the kind of sound that doesn’t scream but whispers—and still burns itself deep into your subconscious. VI PER SANGUINEM, the debut album by Elisabeth Brenner and Ostara Männel, isn’t just a collection of tracks. It’s a ritual. A concept that blends spirituality, sensuality, and occult imagery into one coherent, cold and focused piece of sonic art.

Two weeks of immersion – our picks
It’s been two weeks since VI PER SANGUINEM was released, and we’ve had time to dive deep into the eleven tracks. While every song adds something to the experience, these three stood out the most:
“Willst du mal?”
The opening track feels like a gateway into the world of Vampyros Lesbos. Between religious roleplay, dominance, and seduction, this song builds vivid, provocative imagery. With lines like “I am your Jesus Christ… I am your dealer… I give you what you need,” it’s not about shock value, but a well-placed invitation to surrender. Musically punchy, lyrically sharp—this sets the tone for the entire album.
“Mein Gift”
Sonically creeping in, but lyrically crystal clear. The repeated line “Mein Gift infiltriert, um dich zu infizieren” (“my poison infiltrates to infect you”) is not metaphor—it’s a straight-up act of lyrical dominance. The song works like a physical signal. You feel it instantly.
“Wir tragen schwarz”
More than a track, this feels like a statement. “We are who we are, we wear black, we don’t cry, we don’t complain…” It’s identity, pride, and belonging—all boiled down to a few bold lines. As the final track, it doesn’t fade out—it stands still and holds its ground.

Sound and atmosphere
The entire sonic structure is purely electronic. Focused beats, deliberate production, no unnecessary noise. Every track feels intentional, minimal, yet full of tension. It sits somewhere between Dark Electro, Minimal Wave, and a very club-aware performance aesthetic.
You can tell these songs are designed for both the stage and the night. The vocals often feel like a narrator, somewhere between cold command and intimate closeness. That’s where the emotional intensity really hits.
Lyrics and concept
The lyrics are the center of this album. They’re direct, physical, erotic, and carry a certain spiritual undercurrent. It’s about rituals, desire, roles, power—and absolutely about fantasy.
It’s all carefully staged, stylized, and led with intention. Language, sound, and aesthetics work together perfectly and make it clear what this is about: control, intensity, and a sharp, unmistakable artistic identity.
Physical release
The album is currently available on CD. A fitting choice for a debut release. The artwork is clean and deliberate, just like the music itself—everything consistent and concept-driven.

Final thoughts
VI PER SANGUINEM is focused, sensual, and atmospheric — a bold statement from the underground.
Vampyros Lesbos have released a debut that works both musically and conceptually. If you’re ready to step into their world, you won’t come back the same.
For fans of: Grausame Töchter, Siouxsie and the Banshees, ritual electro, darkwave performance, bold and deliberate aesthetics
