If you like your death metal modern, technical, and filthy, with groove and atmosphere, Banisher should be on your radar right now.
After a longer break between full albums, the experimental death metal crew from Rzeszów, Poland are coming back with Metamorphosis, arriving January 30, 2026 via Selfmadegod Records.

So far the rollout already delivered two singles that set the tone perfectly: “Manifest of Justice”, pure aggressive darkness, and “Soul Deformed”, heavier on mood and progression, with a more “end of the journey” feeling.
Quick facts
Band: Banisher (Rzeszów, Poland)
Album: Metamorphosis
Release date: January 30, 2026
Label: Selfmadegod Records
FFO: Gojira, Decapitated, Aborted, Revocation, The Faceless, Rivers Of Nihil

What to expect from “Metamorphosis”
Banisher still sound like Banisher: modern death metal with groove, technical punch, tight drumming, and furious vocals, but this record feels like it’s aiming for a bigger “album experience”, not just a stack of tracks.
The opener “Manifest of Justice” kicks the door in immediately, no warm-up. The closer “Soul Deformed” does the opposite, it feels like the end of a cycle, and the start of the next one. That’s a really smart way to structure a record, especially when the whole album concept is literally called Metamorphosis.
Also worth mentioning: “Aftermath”, “Born to Die”, and “Demons” are part of the tracklist too, so if you’ve been following the band over the last couple of years, you’ll recognize key moments. I was already sharing those tracks, especially “Demons”.

And I have to say it: I love the single covers, and the new album artwork is a killer piece too. The designer did a great job. I even ordered a T-shirt with the album cover on it.

“Manifest of Justice”
Hubert “Hub” Więcek describes it as a vision of humanity’s end, told from the perspective of a merciless demonic force, extinction framed as “justice”, not punishment.
Fast summary: aggressive, uncompromising, and made to hit hard.
“Soul Deformed”
This one brought me back to longer tracks, it’s almost 7 minutes, and lately I’ve been listening to a lot more short songs.
What I love here is how much it shows the evolution of a band. It feels musically mature, it moves through different rhythms and moods while staying brutal, and it really has that “circle” feeling, it starts, grows, closes, and somehow makes you want to press play again. Perfect choice as an album closer.
