Midgard is the human world in Norse mythology, the middle realm where people live, work, travel, go to shows and wear out their records.
Not the domain of gods or giants, but the place where everything actually happens.
For us, Midgard is not just a myth name that sounds good.
Midgard Reports is the side of Niflheim Records where real nights and real albums turn into stories, concerts and records become reviews, lists and video reports.
The Myth Behind the Name
In the old stories, Midgard is the middle enclosure, the world of humans, surrounded by oceans and chaos, linked to other realms but separate from them.
It is held together by tension, by borders that are always under pressure.
That fits how metal lives for us.
Shows, commutes, small venues, long trips, records on repeat at home, all of that happens in Midgard, not in some distant mythic hall.
Midgard gives a name to that layer of our universe, the everyday ground where music leaves real marks.
Why We Chose Midgard
Midgard Reports is our realm for metal as it is lived, not just collected.
Here you find concert reviews, album reviews, top lists and yearly picks, discography revisits and deep dives, other reports tied to real nights and real records.
Nothing here is distant or over produced.
Videos come from time spent with the music, from shows, from living with albums on repeat, from the rhythm of normal days and late nights.
We did not want a generic name like “Niflheim Reviews” or “Metal Channel”.
Midgard makes it clear that this project is about the human side of Niflheim Records, the realm where people stand in front of stages, buy tickets, crack open shrink wrap and argue about records.
Midgard in Norse Mythology
In Norse myth, Midgard is the world of humans, sitting in the middle of the world tree, between higher and lower realms.
It is encircled by the world serpent Jörmungandr, bordered by wild forces that press in from outside.
The gods may visit, the giants may threaten, but Midgard is where human lives unfold, with all their noise, fear, joy and routine.
It is neither pure light nor total darkness, it is the mix in between.
That idea of a middle world, grounded and imperfect but full of movement, is what we tap into with Midgard Reports, one realm where metal and everyday life collide.
