Expectations
For those who don’t know what Bardentreffen is, it is a big event in Nuremberg that has taken place every year since 1976. It began as part of the 400th anniversary of the death of Hans Sachs, a Meistersinger from Nuremberg. Originally, it started as a singer duel, but over time it transformed into a large event where bands from all over the world come to perform on stages, streets, or wherever there is space. Entry is free, which gives everyone the chance to discover new bands, new styles, interesting combinations, and even well-known artists.
This time, my interest was in Vermilion, a Metalcore band from Nuremberg. They have been getting more popular here lately, and I could feel that because different friends asked me if I had “gone to watch Vermilion” after they saw them playing in other places. I checked out their material, and immediately some songs stuck in my head, especially their latest single Venom. So, I was really curious to see how they sounded live!
Arrival, Merch & Beer
Getting there was easy since the concert was in a beer garden right next to the Hauptbahnhof. Google Maps lists the place as “KultGarten.” It had a nice small stage, perfect for a beer garden setting, with plenty of benches, food, and drinks. I grabbed a beer and sat down with some friends.

The band mentioned there was merch available, but right after the show started, it began to rain heavily, so I didn’t get the chance to check it out this time.
Vermilion
We were there specifically for Vermilion, and they started playing around 20:00. From the very beginning, they showed a lot of energy, and one of the things that impressed me the most was the singer. He is either a natural talent or has learned his craft extremely well, switching from deep, powerful screams to melodic passages, all while jumping and moving constantly around the stage.
The whole band supported the performance with backing vocals and plenty of movement, creating a tight and engaging stage presence.
Of course, Venom was one of the songs played, and it was amazing — a great live interpretation that made me think how incredible it would be to see them in a darker indoor venue full of mosh pits. That’s definitely something I’ll make sure to experience next time they play nearby.

Final Thoughts
It’s amazing to see so many young people still enjoying metal, and catching a Metalcore band from Nuremberg at Bardentreffen was a real highlight. I hope we see more and more of this in future editions of the festival!
