Till Lindemann live in Vienna - Wiener Stadthalle Concert Review

Expectations


Vienna is one of my favorite cities, and every time I have a concert here I expect a strong atmosphere and a motivated crowd.This time it was also my last Till Lindemann show of the year, after several dates on the current tour plus one festival show earlier in the year. So I already knew the setlist and production very well, but I was curious how it would feel in Wiener Stadthalle and how the mood in the hall would be.

Arrival, Merch & Beer


Wiener Stadthalle is easy to reach and very well prepared for big concerts. There are enough food and drink stands, and moving around inside works quite well.


The tour merch was the same as on the other dates of the Meine Welt tour:

  • Tour shirt with dates on the back for 45 euros

  • Dancing fish with the Lindemann logo for 25 euros

  • Tour cups in the 0.5 liter version:

    • Zunge design

    • Ich hasse Kinder design

    • Embryo design

    • Tour design with dates


When I got in there were still plenty of fish, but after the concert they were completely sold out. So if someone really wants one, it is better to buy it before the show and not wait until the end.


This time I finally bought the Aesthetic Perfection basketball jersey. I normally wear size M, but they only had XL and XXL left, and XL fits surprisingly well for this kind of shirt.

Beer cost 6 euros plus 3 euros pfand and tasted very good, perfect for a concert evening.A big plus for the venue, they had proper food like Schnitzel and Leberkäse, which is something I would love to see in more arenas.



Aesthetic Perfection


Aesthetic Perfection opened the evening again.On earlier tours I was not always a big fan of them, but this year they grew a lot on me. The songs work very well in big halls and the sound in Vienna was strong and clear.


Daniel’s voice was in good shape, and the whole band has a lot of energy and stage presence. You can see that many people in the crowd already know the songs, sing along and enjoy the set. Even if I still do not love every single track, as a live package they deliver a very solid and entertaining show.

Like on the rest of the tour, Till played 18 songs in Vienna with the same order and the same length as the other dates. No surprises in the setlist, but for me that is not a problem, because the selection of songs works very well in this production.

The band felt tight and focused and Till’s voice was in very good form again. Compared to the one weaker evening in Düsseldorf, you could really hear that he had recovered fully. In Wiener Stadthalle he sang strong from start to finish.


My personal highlights of the night were once more:

  • Über’s Meer

  • Du hast kein Herz

  • Und die Engel singen

  • Tanzlehrerin


Über’s Meer is probably my number one from this tour. His voice fits the song perfectly and live it has a very emotional impact.Du hast kein Herz and Und die Engel singen are great in the hall because of the dynamics and the way the drums and arrangements hit.


For the audience, Tanzlehrerin is clearly one of the biggest moments. As soon as it starts, you see hundreds of phones in the air, people singing and clapping. One of the dancers from The Sinderellas performs a beautiful choreo that mixes elements of ballet and flamenco, and it looks fantastic with the lights and the stage.


The new band line up works extremely well:

  • Brynn on keyboards and pole dance, with some impressive acrobatic moments

  • Momo on bass

  • Andrea and Luisa from The Sinderellas on dance duties

  • The drummer, who not only plays very tight but also adds a lot of character to the show


Compared to older tours there are fewer extreme background videos and more focus on what happens on the stage itself. With this band that is a good decision, because they keep the stage alive the whole time.



Final Thoughts


Vienna was a great way to close this tour for me.Good organization, tasty beer and food, a strong crowd and Till in very good vocal shape. The setlist might be the same every night, but the songs are chosen well and the production fits them perfectly.


For me this tour will stay in my memory as one of the best Lindemann runs I have seen so far, especially when you are close enough to really follow what every band member is doing on stage.
