Expectations
Ice Nine Kills is a band I know mainly through a few singles, and I’ve seen them once before as support for Metallica. I always liked some songs, especially the one from Terrifier 3, and the last four singles were all really strong. The older tracks were never completely my style, but I was curious to see what an actual headliner show looks like, because opening for Metallica is obviously something completely different.
This time the concert was at the Zenit in Munich, and I honestly didn’t expect much beyond a good show — but it ended up becoming one of the biggest surprises of the year for me.
Arrival, Merch & Beer
The Zenit is always easy to reach and very fast when it comes to serving drinks. The staff was friendly, efficient and the bar areas never felt overcrowded. The beer was Meckatzer, which always fits perfectly for a concert. With pfand included the price landed around 8.80 euros, but the beer itself was roughly five euros.
The merch selection was huge.
I bought the tour shirt for 50 euros, which is standard for big bands now. The quality was excellent and the design included both Ice Nine Kills and Terrifier branding.SIGNED merch was available too: CDs for 30 euros and signed vinyls for 60–70 euros.
But the regular merch… wow.Normal shirts were 60 euros, long sleeves 70 euros, hoodies 100 euros. Out of the 75 concerts I’ve seen this year, this was the most expensive band merch I have ever encountered.
The tour cups were amazing. They had designs inspired by:
The Great Unknown (Matrix-style artwork)
Terrifier
The Laugh Track
Some of the best-looking cups I’ve seen this year.
X2
Sadly, I completely missed the first band due to arriving late, so I cannot say anything about their performance.
Creeper
Creeper were the first band I actually saw, and at first I wasn’t convinced. But after the third song everything changed — they were fantastic.Their music blends gothic elements with modern metal, and at times they even sounded a bit like The 69 Eyes. The keyboardist, who also handled some vocals, delivered some of the best moments of their set. She also appeared later with Ice Nine Kills.
On Spotify they never fully grabbed me, but live they were excellent. I would absolutely see them again on their own tour in a smaller venue.
The Devil Wears Prada
This set wasn’t for me.
Not because the band was bad — the crowd absolutely loved them — but because this style simply doesn’t match my personal taste. They played well and the audience had a great time, but none of the songs connected with me.
I even forgot to take a photo for the blog because I wasn’t feeling it.Still, for fans of their sound, it was clearly a strong performance.
Ice Nine Kills
And then came the main act — and the biggest surprise of the night.I knew some songs were based on horror movies, but I had no idea every single track was tied to a specific film. Recognizing movie after movie throughout the show was incredibly fun.
Munich’s crowd was fantastic. People sang loudly, reacted strongly to every break and every costume change, and created a great atmosphere.
Spencer, the singer, was outstanding. His vocals were strong, his energy nonstop, and his acting skills added so much to the show. He switched between characters constantly — one moment himself, the next moment Candyman, then American Psycho, then The Joker, then another horror icon.
The speed at which he changed outfits was unbelievable. Some transitions took less than five seconds.
Every song had its own theatrical moment — someone gets “killed,” props appear, or Spencer comes out as the film’s villain.
On both sides of the stage were two giant retro TV screens playing old American commercials and horror-style intros, like watching a VHS horror marathon from the 80s. Each video transition flowed into the next song.
The biggest highlight for me was A Work of Art (Terrifier).Seeing Terrifier appear on stage in a full Bavarian look with Lederhosen was absolutely wild and hilarious. The crowd went insane.
Honestly, if I could, I would see this concert again immediately.
There were also VIP options:
100 euros for a band photo, 200 euros for a band photo plus a “Spencer kills you” photo and one signed item.
Most were already sold out, which makes total sense after seeing the show.
Final Thoughts
This was easily one of the best surprises of the entire year.Ice Nine Kills delivered a creative, theatrical, high-energy show that felt like a combination of metal concert and horror theater.
Even if you don’t know their entire discography, the live experience is worth it.
If you get the chance to see this tour, take it — it is absolutely unforgettable.
