Expectations

It had been many years since I had last heard anything from Fear Factory, and then I found out they were playing in my city. Even though I had lost track of their recent work, this was an opportunity I wasn’t going to miss. After booking my ticket, I learned that the original singer, Burton C. Bell, was no longer with the band, so I was looking forward to seeing how the new singer would perform.

Arrival, Merch & Beer

Hirsch is a well-known venue in Nuremberg and across the region. It’s easy to reach with the Straßenbahn, which has a stop nearby, followed by a short 10-minute walk. The area around the venue is quiet, with more activity near the tram stop, where there’s a large street and a supermarket.

One thing I love about Hirsch is that they have their own beer, simply called Hirsch, and it tastes amazing. Whenever I’m there, that’s the only beer I order.

The merch was great and fairly priced for both bands. From Fear Factory, I bought the tour shirt with the Demanufacture cover. The quality was excellent — perfect fit, sharp print, and very comfortable — and at 30 euros, it was a good deal. They also had a cool shirt with a Terminator design, but I wanted something specific to the tour. There was also a signed drum plate available for 200 euros.

Tag My Heart

I had seen Tag My Heart once before last year and enjoyed their show. They’re a band from Hamburg fronted by singer Isabel, and their style is a mix of many influences that’s hard to sum up in one word — definitely worth checking out. In recent months, I’ve had friends ask me if I know them, so it’s clear they’re becoming more recognized.

Their performance was strong. While the crowd wasn’t overly active during the songs, they reacted warmly after each one, with applause and cheers. At the end of the night, after Fear Factory had finished, Tag My Heart was at the merch stand meeting fans — a great opportunity for people to talk to them and grab some merch.

Fear Factory

I need to start with my final verdict: the show was incredible.

New singer Milo Silvestro delivered an outstanding performance, and to me, he sounded just like the albums. Dino Cazares, the only founding member still in the band, was phenomenal — his riffs instantly brought back memories from my teenage years, and I even recognized songs I had completely forgotten about.

The setlist was perfect for the night, with a large part dedicated to the Demanufacture album, followed by a mix of other hits. They closed with “Archetype,” with the whole crowd singing along to “Open your eyes.” The atmosphere was electric — the energy inside the probably sold-out venue was unbelievable, with everyone jumping and singing. I honestly had no idea Fear Factory had so many devoted fans, and it wasn’t just the size of the crowd but the number of people who knew every single word.

Final Thoughts

An incredible night and, for me, a bit of an epic one. Everything came together — the crowd, the setlist, the new singer, and the nostalgic memories from my teenage years. If they keep performing like this, Fear Factory is more alive than ever.
