Expectations
I originally planned to see The 69 Eyes, since I already knew their songs. I had never heard of D-A-D before, but many followers messaged me saying they are amazing live, so I was excited to discover them.
On this tour there is no fixed headliner. In some cities The 69 Eyes play first, in others D-A-D open the night. On the posters there is no clear “main act”, which I found interesting and refreshing.
The show took place at Astra Kulturhaus in Berlin, a venue I already visited two days earlier. It’s easy to reach, has a great layout, and works really well for shows of this size.
Arrival, Merch & Beer
Reaching Astra is always easy: U-Bahn to Warschauer Straße and around ten minutes walking.
The beer was Astra, priced at 5 euros plus 1 euro deposit. Not my favorite beer, but totally fine for a concert.

Merch for both bands was well presented. From The 69 Eyes I bought a tour shirt for 30 euros — very fair compared to most concerts today. They also sold signed items, but I personally didn’t buy any. The designs were great though, and I can imagine many fans were happy with the selection.
D-A-D (Disneyland After Dark)
In Berlin, D-A-D played first, and they were absolutely fantastic.I had no idea they were this well known or that they had so many fans in Germany.
The performance was powerful and musically excellent.
Highlights:
The bassist with several unique bass guitars, including a rocket-shaped one and an upside-down model
The drummer, who delivered extremely strong and memorable moments
Great guitar work
The singer, who spoke a bit of German and made some jokes
They were tight, energetic, and extremely fun to watch.Total recommendation — if you see D-A-D announced somewhere, go watch them.
The 69 Eyes
The 69 Eyes played after D-A-D. I was curious to see which songs they would include, and they played all the hits I hoped for. The atmosphere was great and fans clearly enjoyed every moment.
Sometimes Jyrki’s vocals were a bit quiet, and I don’t think it was the microphone. He simply sang some parts softer live, which with his unique voice can be tricky. Still, overall they sounded very close to the album versions, just with more live energy.
One interesting thing:
the hall was full for D-A-D, but about half of the crowd left before The 69 Eyes started.Different styles, different fanbases — totally normal.
Those who stayed were 100 percent fans and sang everything loudly from beginning to end.
A really fun, nostalgic, and well-played set.
Final Thoughts
Two very different bands but a fantastic combination for one night. For around 40 to 50 euros, this was absolutely worth it.
D-A-D impressed me the most — I didn’t expect such an energetic and musically perfect performance. The 69 Eyes delivered exactly what fans wanted and created a great atmosphere.
A strong double-headline tour and a very enjoyable night in Berlin.
