Expectations

When I heard that Blaze Bayley would be touring to celebrate the anniversary of one of his most iconic albums, Silicon Messiah, I knew I had to be there. Due to a packed schedule, Augsburg ended up being the only date I could attend — and it turned out to be the perfect choice. Great venue, great city, and above all, the promise of some Iron Maiden classics on the setlist. What more could a fan ask for? A Sunday evening filled with metal and beer — let’s go.

Arrival, Merch & Beer

We arrived early, of course — Blaze offers a free meet and greet to anyone who shows up before the show starts, and you don’t want to miss that. True to his word, Blaze was there at the entrance, signing autographs and taking selfies with every fan.

Early birds rewarded – fans meeting Blaze before the show, signing records and taking selfies.

I brought my X Factor vinyl, and on top of that, I picked up the special Silicon Messiah anniversary edition on vinyl from the merch stand. Blaze signed both with his incredible signature — seriously, his autograph looks badass. After that, we went back for more merch: patches, a signed Circle of Stone CD, and of course, the tour shirt.

The merch selection? Simply amazing. Tons of stock, lots of variety, and prices that were more than fair.

The beer was Riegele, a local brewery. Decent pricing, and while it’s not my favorite style, I appreciated the chance to try something regional. It went down well, especially in the heat of the venue.

Riegele beer on tap – a local classic with a crisp taste, perfect for the warm venue vibes.

Pryma

I hadn’t listened to Pryma beforehand — I wanted the live experience to be a complete surprise. And wow, what a surprise it was.

Their set was packed with powerful riffs, a tight and energetic rhythm section, and a frontwoman with an impressive voice and commanding stage presence. It didn’t take long before the crowd was fully into it.

Pryma surprised the crowd with powerful vocals and riff-driven energy – a band to watch!

The band describes themselves as:

A hard-charging rock band from the southeast of England, mixing heavy metal with groove and thrash to create experimental, headbanging, and ferocious music.

Spot on. If I had to pick a personal highlight, it would be their track 1:23:45. But honestly, the whole set was killer. After their show, I went straight to the merch stand to pick up their album and tour shirt — and grab a quick photo with the band. Great people. I hope they come back soon.

Blaze Bayley

The moment everyone was waiting for had arrived. Blaze took the stage and kicked things off with 10 Seconds, before announcing they’d play the entire Silicon Messiah album — front to back. Hearing a complete album live, in order, is a rare treat. And they absolutely nailed it.

Blaze’s voice was strong and full of power throughout the night. His band deserves a serious shoutout:Chris Appleton on guitar was absolutely on fire, Luke Appleton locked down the bass lines flawlessly, and the drummer — filling in on one day’s notice due to a medical emergency — was an absolute beast. Blaze made sure to give him credit during the show, and rightly so.

After Silicon Messiah, Blaze and the band played two more solo tracks and an emotional acoustic version of 2 A.M., with Luke switching to acoustic guitar. Then it was time for the Iron Maiden era.

Blaze Bayley in full force – powerful vocals, tight band, and a legendary presence on stage.

The crowd went wild for every song, especially when Wrathchild kicked in — an unexpected addition and one that totally fit the night’s energy.

Setlist Highlights

  • Born as a Stranger: One of Blaze’s strongest solo tracks — raw, emotional, and executed perfectly.

  • 2 A.M. (Acoustic): A beautiful surprise. Luke on acoustic, Blaze with full emotion. A haunting and heartfelt version.

  • Virus: A huge moment. Probably the most anticipated song of the night. Crowd reaction was electric — everyone knew every word.

Final Thoughts

What a night. A free meet and greet, tons of killer merch, local beer, an incredible support band, and Blaze Bayley at the top of his game. This tour proves Blaze is not only alive and kicking — he’s thriving. His performance was full of gratitude, energy, and connection with the audience.

Both bands gave everything, and we were lucky to witness it. Here’s hoping they come around again soon.
